Syrian actress Salma al-Masri best known for her role in ‘The Survivor’ is to travel to Iran concurrent with the inauguration of the 15th Resistance International Film Festival.
The 15th Resistance Filmfest. will host Salma al-Masri who is known to Iran cinema goers for her brilliant role as aunty Safieh in ‘The Survivor’ by late Iran filmmaker Seifollah Dad.
Besides the Arab actress Salma al-Masri, over 40 foreign guests will attend this edition of the festival.
‘The Survivor’ is a 1995 Iranian epic historical drama film about the occupation of the Palestinian city of Haifa by Zionist forces in 1948 and recounts how a loving grandmother does the unthinkable to save her only surviving grandchild from being raised by a Zionist couple.
The 120-min flick is the winner of Special Jury Prize and Special Mention for actress in leading role at the 14th Fajr International Film Festival.
It also grabbed award at Resistance Film Festival in 1996.
The Resistance International Film Festival (RIFF) is regarded as one of the most prestigious international film festivals in Iran.
The goal of the Festival is to create an atmosphere of dialogue, understanding of current human sufferings, and to share experiences and new ideas.
The festival will be held on November 26-December 1, 2018, at Felestin Theater Hall in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.
